General Meeting

Having been sick for the past two weeks, I'm a little behind but this is better late than never. The General Meeting for SOCHA is this Saturday, November 21 at 2:30 pm at the Heaven on Earth in Azalea. All members are invited so please plan on attending.

Among other items, the Agenda will include idea and suggestions for the 2010 year and election of the 2010 President and Vice-President. Please mail or email your nominations or if you run out of time, bring them to the meeting.

2009 has been a rough year for SOCHA and there are some hard decisions to be made if we are to survive as a club.

October Finals Show

Hi there fellow Cutters,

Our final show for 2009 is coming up in less than two weeks so hope you are getting ready! Entries are due on Wednesday, October 14, by 8:00pm and if you can help us out by getting them in as early as possible, we would appreciate it.

The weather is again clear skies (ok so it's Oregon & could again change tonight) with cool & brisk mornings and warming to 65-70 degrees which is really nice. Hopefully, it will continue until the 17th & 18th. If you're traveling, drive safe and see you there.

We are proposing a practice after the show for anyone that would like to get in a little in-expensive practice and or a lesson from their trainer. Cost would be $30 for up to 4 minutes and will be on rerun cattle. If you are interested, please indicate when you call or email your entries so we will know whether to plan on holding it.

Till later...Janna

Sept Cancelled

Well, another show cancelled. This year has not been kind to SOCHA but it really hasn't been kind to very many others either. All shows are down in entries and attendance for mostly economic reasons. From what we're hearing, there have also been a lot of health issues for a lot of folks. Please say a prayer for anyone that you know of that has had problems this year.

The last & Finals show is scheduled for October 17 & 18...entries are due the Wednesday before by 8:00 pm. Hopefully, we will have enough entries to hold our Finals show. If not, the Board has agreed that awards will not be given out this year according to our Bylaws.

In case you didn't notice, we've also added a "Two-Handed" class for those that requested it.

Preliminary plans are in the works for our annual General Meeting so keep an eye open for the date and time. We welcome everyone to come and share your ideas to help encourage additional SOCHA memberships.

Until October...Janna

Sept & Oct Show Update

Hi everyone,

Here it is, the week to call in your entries! We wanted to let you know for those that requested it, we've added a "Two-Handed Class" to be held after the 100 Rider and before the NWAB. So now's your chance to show that not quite finished horse in a class made for just for them.

Talk to you soon and see you on Saturday.

Myrtle Point - Cancelled

Hi everyone,

For those of you who are not aware, the decision was made to cancel the Myrtle Point show. Unfortunately, our show was the same date as the Washington show and regretably many chose to attend the Washington locale rather than a new untried arena. Hopefully, we can avoid this conflict next year and you will give Myrtle Point a chance. To those of you that did enter, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and hope we'll see you at the September show in Roseburg.

To help ensure the SOCHA shows are a success, we asked for concerns or suggestions for improvement. As previously requested, new sand will again be brought into the working pen and we will make every effort to work the loping pen as often as you need it.

Please help show your support by encouraging others to come to our last two shows of the season. If you have any additional suggestions, please let us know. A club is only as strong as its members who participate in its activities, meetings and decisions.

See you in a couple of weeks.

Followers? Who might you be?

Hey everyone!

We'd really like to know who is interested in following this blog so sign up as a follower! Don't forget if there are others who might be interested in your standings or the club news, send them the link and have them send us their address and we'll include them in our news updates.

COMING SOON!!!

The Myrtle Point show on August 8 & 9 is fast approaching. It's going to be a fun show and we've planned a Potluck BBQ on Saturday after the show. The menu so far includes Kabobs from fresh caught tuna, burgers for those of us who would rather have beef, salads, chips, watermelon, soda and lots of fun! So put on a big smile, comfy attire and prepare to relax and get to know some of your fellow SOCHA members. If you have a tasty dish that you'd like to bring, we'll be happy to enjoy that too. That's the "potluck" part I guess. But if you are just too busy to bring something, don't let that stop you! There will be lots of food and your company is the most important item at this here get together.

This is a new show location so please come try it out! There will be new sand in the huge arena and should be a great place to show in the month of August. Believe me, I've been to a lot of the cutting locations in Oregon in August and am really looking forward to a show where it won't be 105 degrees!

Any questions or suggestions? Just add a comment to the blog or email us at socha@dcwisp.net

Till later...JannaV
